Since the date of establishment, the Animal Ethics Advisory Committee has operated effectively. On August 24, 2021, for the first time, 6 applications of 3 researchers from the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University are considered for the approval registration of animal ethics in research. Prof. Dr. Le Dinh Phung, Vice-Rector of the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University chaired the meeting.
Prof. Le Dinh Phung, Deputy Rector of the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, Chairman of the Advisory Animal Ethics Committee, and Prof. Le Duc Ngoan, the Committee Member give comments to the principal investigators.
At the meeting, three principal investigators summarized activities relating to the guarantee of the rights and benefits of animals used in research. Then, the Committee members gave them comments and discussed to ensure ethics principles and standards in behaving animals in research.
The Animal Advisory Committee includes 13 members specialized in animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, fisheries, and biology. The Committee, whose Chairman is Prof. Le Dinh Phung, Vice-Rector of the University of Agriculture and Forestry is run in accordance with its Regulations of organization and operation issued in accompanying with Decision 449/QD-DHH of Hue University President dated April 22, 2021. This is a result of Project 2 under the VLIR-IUC program between Hue University and Belgian partners.
To operate effectively, the Committee has made specific plans and procedures and set up regulations on the consideration, approval, and management of scientific proposals. Besides, the Committee is going to have training workshops undertaken by international experts for the consultancy of international publications and advocate policies for national regulations.
